Baptismal Preparation
Baptismal Preparation
Religious Education

Would you like to share your faith with some of St. Mary students? Teachers are needed for our Sunday 1st grade classes and 3rd grade on Wednesday evenings. The lessons are already planned, easy to follow and there will be someone available to review the manual and class schedule with you along with any other questions you may have. Please take time, pray for guidance and contact Mary in the RE office, 352-1722.
Pictures from Totus Tuus are posted on the bulletin board in the back of the church. Check them out! The kids had a great time as they learned more about our faith.
Last chance! Please pick up First Communion pictures, certificates and banners that have been left here since May. If these things are not picked up this week, it will be assume you do not want them.
We’ve found two nice winter jackets in one of the classrooms. Check your closets and if you’re missing a jacket or two, come and get them before the cold weather gets here!
The next Baptismal Class will be held on Thursday August 5, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Center. Pre-registration is required before attending the class and forms may be filled out at the Parish Center. Parents and Godparents are required to attend a class.

INTERCESSIONS FOR LIFE:
For all health care professionals who conscientiously object to moral evils advocated in our nation’s laws: that the Holy Spirit will be their guide and support for acting rightly and that he will lead them to peace in trying times; We pray to the Lord:
WORTH QUOTING:
Wherever respect for life and human dignity are lacking, there is need of God’s merciful love, in whose light we see the inexpressible value of every human being. Mercy is needed in order to ensure that every injustice in the world will come to an end in the splendor of truth.
~Pope John Paul II, Homily
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION:
Jesus, Mary and Joseph we love you very much. We ask you to spare the life of the unborn baby who is in danger of abortion. Amen.
Week 14: Your baby now has a 4-lobed cerebral cortex. The baby’s cerebellum resembles the adult structure.

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ. I believe that I must warn you about certain things happening in our country today. It has come to my attention that our President, after applauding our country’s “religious freedom” in his speech in Cairo, has changed his terminology in recent speeches to “freedom of worship.” Our Secretary of State, Mrs. Hillary Clinton, has also picked up on this terminology and is using freedom of worship in her references. This has now become the term of choice for this administration. I believe this is something that Catholics must be very aware of.
In an article for First Things magazine, Ashley Samelson, International Programs Director for the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said, "To anyone who closely follows prominent discussion of religious freedom in the diplomatic and political arena, this linguistic shift is troubling: "The reason is simple. Any person of faith knows that religious exercise is about a lot more than freedom of worship. It's about the right to dress according to one's religious dictates, to preach openly, to evangelize, to engage in the public square. Everyone knows that religious Jews keep kosher, religious Quakers don't go to war, and religious Muslim women wear headscarves-yet "freedom of worship" would protect none of these acts of faith." Because it only guarantees what you do in your place of worship and could possibly eliminate that freedom in the public forum.
Recall that this President, as a candidate in 2007, declared that the United States of America was no longer a Christian nation. On September 25, 2009 a National Day of Prayer for Muslims was held in Washington D.C., however, this year 2010, our President canceled the 21st annual day of prayer with the explanation that he “didn’t want to offend anyone.” This National Day of Prayer was established in 1952 and has taken place every year since then.
There is nothing to overwrought about at this point in time, but the trends being set by this administration are not reassuring for people of faith, particularly for those who stem from the Judeo Christian belief complex. Let us pray.
God Bless You All
The Youth Office has arranged to have a Shredding Truck come to St. Mary’s. For a free-will donation, you can bring in those documents and papers that you’ve been collecting and watch them as they are shredded. The truck will be in the St. Mary’s parking lot on July 29th from 10am until 2pm. You may also bring in old computers, TVs, telephones, stereos, etc. to be recycled. This is your chance to gain back your space!
